1.Should I remove the pot?
Yes, our plants are grown in plastic pots which must be removed before planting.

2. Should I water the plant before planting?
If your plant is dry submerge it in a bucket of cold water for a few minutes until the air stops bubbling out.

3.How big a hole should I dig?
Dig a hole at least twice as wide as the pot and a little bit deeper. If your soil is really hard, dig a larger hole to make it easier for the plant to root into.

4. How deep should I plant?
The plant should end up with the soil at the same level as the compost was in the pot.

5.Do I need to add fertiliser?
Unless your soil is really poor, fertiliser is not normally needed. In fact, too much fertiliser can make the plant grow lush and floppy.

6. Do I water the plant after planting?
It's important to water after planting and to make sure the plant does not dry out as it roots into the soil. During dry weather check every few days and water as necessary.

7. What aftercare does the new plant need?
Apart from watering after planting and during periods of extreme dry weather, your plants need little maintenance. To keep plants neat and tidy, dead flower heads may be trimmed off but only if you want to.

8. Are there any conditions when I shouldn’t plant?
In very hot, dry weather it's best not to plant unless you can be sure to check the plants every day that they don't dry out. It's best to hold off when the ground is frozen too- the plants won't root in until the soil thaws out anyway.Windy weather is probably best avoided too.

Unpack on delivery and place in a light position outside until you are ready to plant. Avoid hot, windy sites as these may cause the plants to dry out in their pots.

Keep watered if not planting immediately.

When you are ready to plant, dig a hole slightly larger than the pot size. Remove the pot and place the plant in the hole, filling the soil back in around it. Firm the soil lightly with your hands, just enough to keep the plant upright and in position.

Water well to settle the soil in around the roots of the plant.

If the weather is very hot or dry, you will need to water the plants again until they have rooted into the surrounding soil and become established. Check every couple of days if it hasn't rained.

Once they have settled in, no further maintenance is needed apart from a light trimming off of dead flowers to keep them looking tidy, but even this is unnecessary if you don’t want to.

In extreme dry weather, additional watering may be required.

Don't forget - your plants will need watering in their pots too until you can put them in your garden.
